Dr. Miyamoto is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and maintains a full-time private practice limited to periodontics and dental implants at Metro West Orthodontics & Periodontics. He earned his DDS and MBA from Creighton University, MS from Boston University and PhD from Nihon University.
Dr. Miyamoto has served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Periodontics, Director of the Predoctoral Program and the Director of Phoenix CHI Postgraduate Program Initiatives at Creighton University. He has also served as the President of the Omaha District Dental Society and the President of Southwest Society of Periodontists. He has been a member of the Nebraska State Board of Dentistry, the editorial advisory board for the Journal of Periodontology and the board of iMc, a practice-based research network.
His contributions have been recognized with the Bud and Linda Tarrson Fellowship from the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation, Fellowship in the American College of Dentists, Educator Award of Excellence twice from American Academy of Periodontology and the Global Ambassador for the Slow Dentistry Global Network.
An accomplished author and lecturer, Dr. Miyamoto has published in peer reviewed journals extensively, authored a periodontal textbook with Quintessence and delivered over 120 continuing education lectures worldwide on periodontics and dental implants.
In his spare time, Dr. Miyamoto enjoyed traveling with his daughter to Broadway musicals, ice skating and skiing in the mountains in Colorado.
